Isaiah 60:22

“The least of you will become a thousand, the smallest a mighty nation. I am the Lord; in its time I will do this swiftly.”

Where it comes from

Isaiah 60 is a promise to a people in exile that their city would be restored and that nations would come to its light. The popular line on the card, "When the time is right, I, the Lord, will make it happen," is a paraphrase of the verse's last sentence.

What it means

Most of us are living in the gap between a promise and its fulfillment. This verse doesn't deny the waiting; it names it. "In its time" means there is a time, chosen by God and not by us, and "swiftly" means that when it comes, it will not drag. It is a verse for the job you didn't get yet, the prayer that hasn't been answered yet, the child who hasn't come home yet.
